Talent in Pakistan
Sitara Akbar From Chiniot, Punjab, created a world record after managing to pass O-level English, Mathematics, and Science at the age of 11. This isn’t the first time she has done this. She created a world record after passing O-level Biology at the age of 10, and a record in Pakistan after passing O-level Chemistry at the age of 9.

Sitara Brooj Akbar is the eldest of her five siblings. At a young age, she developed a habit of questioning everything taking nothing for granted, according to her father Brooj Akbar.

When traditional school-based learning became impossible, her father “had to open a private school (Star Academy, Rabwah) for her because no other school was willing to keep her,” Akbar stated. She left traditional schools by the third grade when her teachers began to feel irritated and uneasy.

She recently took the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test where she scored a 7 band out of 9. The score is required by most international universities and colleges for admission in postgraduate degree programmes.

The only reason she took the test to begin with was to get an informed idea of where she stood at the international level concerning English. Sitara speaks English with the confidence of an adult, giving speeches in front of large audiences at the tender age of five. Asked about the causes behind her academic excellent, the 11-year old replied simply: “You have to teach your children at a young age; that is the age for learning. If you do not teach them at that age, then it is all useless.”

But Sitara’s ambitions have only just begun: she hopes to become a scientist and chemistry in particular has captivated her. “Chemistry is an entirely different world altogether,” she said while maintaining her love and interest in physics and other sciences at all. Her idols include Dr Abdus Salam, the country’s sole Nobel laureate in Physics who she hopes to emulate in the not so distant future.

Her younger sister, Mahpara Komal, 10, was also refused by both Punjab University and Aga Khan University to appear in their entrance examinations, since she was four years short of the minimum age.
“Now she too is preparing for O-levels,” Sitara said. “She copies me.”

A student in Islamabad, Ibrahim Shahid, set a new world record by scoring 23 As in Cambridge O level exams.
Shahid, a student of a private school in Islamabad, sat for 24 subjects and scored 23 As.
Attributing his success to his parents, Shahid recalled an incident where his teacher in Australia had written him off, stating that he would “never excel”. He added that every child is special and everyone has their own capabilities.
Earlier, Ali Moeen Nawazish, also a Pakistani student, had set a world record by securing 23 As in A level Cambridge exams.

Another Pakistani Student Ibrahim Shahid Set O Level World Record By Secoring 23 Aa

Thursday, 31 May 2012

[postlink]https://talentpakistani.blogspot.com/2012/05/pakistani-boy-breaks-world-record.html[/postlink]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbH_dWWIE1Q

[starttext]
One ambition was fixed in Ali Moeen Nawazish's mind as he made his way through school in Pakistan. He wanted to win a place at Cambridge.

Sitting seven A-levels might easily have done the trick, even though he had started to study some of the subjects only three days before the exam.

But he was determined to get some good grades. So he sat another three, and three more. Then another nine. Just in case, he took a couple of AS levels along the way

The result? The remarkable young student, who modestly explains he has 'quite a thirst for knowledge', secured 22 A grades, one B and a C.

When he filled out his university application forms at home in Rawalpindi there was barely enough space to list his qualifications.

His Cambridge dream came true four months ago when he embarked on a computer science degree course at Trinity Hall. Now he is due to win another place - in the Guinness Book of Records.

Yesterday Ali, 18, explained, perhaps superfluously, that he rather enjoys hard work. He's got even more qualifications in his sights to fulfil another ambition.

Ali, who speaks Urdu, English and Punjabi, sat all the exams within 12 months at Rawalpindi's Roots College International. His entry was organized through accredited boards Ed-Excel and Cambridge International Examinations.

Ali also achieved a top score in the U.S. admissions test and was accepted by most Ivy League institutions, including Harvard and Yale. Apart from core science subjects he is almost entirely self taught. He studied for up to 12 hours a day, using energy drinks to help concentrate.

He still managed to keep up his leisure pursuits, however, playing the guitar, cricket and table tennis, and editing his school newspaper. He even found time for a trip to America to attend a Harvard leadership course.

bdul Sattar Edhi, 85, runs the country’s largest charity, which operates hundreds of ambulances and shelters for women, children and the destitute.

Described as a “living saint” for his modest lifestyle and charitable crusade, Edhi has won international peace awards and is one of Pakistan’s most popular figures.

But for the first time he now has round-the-clock police protection in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city of 18 million where he is based.

“There is a threat to him by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which wants to kidnap him and use him to get their detained militants released in exchange,” a Pakistani security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Two armed policemen, who each work a 12-hour shift, have been going everywhere with Edhi since June 5, the official said.

Aslam Khan senior police official, said “a letter containing a hit-list has been intercepted, which includes Edhi and two police officials, including me,” he said.

Khan and Rao Anwar, the other police official on the alleged hit list, have both narrowly escaped bomb attacks in Karachi claimed by the TTP.

Khan’s house was flattened by a powerful bomb on September 19, 2011, while he was sleeping. He escaped unhurt but eight people were killed.

Anwar was in an armoured personnel carrier on April 5 when it was rammed by a motorcyclist laden with explosives, killing four people.

Edhi said he was carrying on regardless. “I have accepted the guards, but that won’t deter me from doing my job to serve my people,” he told AFP.

But Edhi’s son and deputy, Faisal, told AFP that the Taliban had visited his father’s office on June 6 to assure him that he was not a target.

“They told my father that they respect him and admire whatever he does, and won’t target him ever,” Faisal told AFP.

[postlink]https://talentpakistani.blogspot.com/2012/05/sialkot-worlds-largest-football.html[/postlink]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIgTbqousGM

[starttext]

If you are a football fan you’ve probably heard of Sialkot, Pakistan – about 70 percent of the world’s hand-sewn footballs are made there.

In the 1980s, Sialkot gained international celebrity status when it produced the Tango ball used in the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Today Sialkot’s hand-stitched balls face competition from the machine-made and machine-glued balls produced in China. The balls that will be used in World Cup matches this summer, made by hand in Sialkot in previous years, are now being produced in China by machine.

A Sialkot-produced soccer ball has 32 panels that are stitched together, while the machine-made Jabulani World Cup ball has eight thermally bonded pieces. The hand-made ball retails for about $150; the hand-stitched replica can sell for as little as $25.

Despite this, the football industry in Sialkot is going strong. Forty million soccer balls (up to 60 million in World or European Cup years) worth about $210 million are produced there annually.

Rumor has it that Sialkot’s sports industry was born when a tourist’s football fell apart while visiting the city. Unable to find a replacement, he asked a local craftsman to fix it. The craftsman fixed the ball so well that, according to the story, it spawned an entire industry. The craftsman’s name was Syed Sahib, and whether he is fictional or not, there is a street in the city that bears his name.

Adidas made the decision to switch to the thermally bonded balls for the 2006 World Cup. The goal was to make the balls perform more consistently when players kicked them. With a hand-stitched ball the seams occasionally produce dead spots.

Two years ago, Adidas transferred its proprietary technology to the Sialkot-based company Forward Sports, which has started to make small quantities of thermally bonded balls. Recently, the company successfully lobbied Adidas to use the thermal-bonding technology and produced balls for the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid, one of the biggest events on the global soccer calendar.

At the moment however, the city is gripped by football fever with business activity at its peak. A rush of cargo agents can be seen at the Sialkot dry port waiting for clearance, and the customs’ offices has extended their hours to smooth the export process.

[postlink]https://talentpakistani.blogspot.com/2012/05/shoaib-akhtar-fastest-bowler-of-all.html[/postlink]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bk6XhlmS1E

[starttext]
Shoaib Akhtar is the dashing fast bowler in the world.
When one sees this warhorse gallop down the track, one wonders if he ever thought about the 100 meters dash before taking up cricket. There are various languages in this world, but for Shoaib Akhtar, in the game of cricket, there is only one language: SPEED. He talks that language with the fury of a King who does not want to be Second Best! Bowling fast is simply his Menu for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and that's what he intends to do. Time is a factor that is for the connoisseurs.
His bowling can be compared to Bombardment in Physics. The term means directing a stream of high speed particles at an object. Akhtar does precisely that, he hurls the ball at great speeds making the distance of 22 yards a touch too short for the batsman to recover. By the time the batsman tries to focus on the ball, he is walking back to the pavilion, head hung in the air.

He made his Test debut in the second test of the season of 1997-98 at his Home Ground against the WI. (This, incidentally, has earned him a name of Rawalpindi Express). If Imran founded Wasim Akram as the Great Bowler that he is, one can be fair to say that it was Wasim Akram who continued the tradition of nurturing this Pace Man!

Akhtar has invaded all our hearts with his heartwarming and Stumps burning performances. We wish him all success in the future to continue his fast and furious stints with the ball.

Wasim Akram is a Brilliant Cricketer of Pakistan.
Wasim Akram born 3 June 1966 is a former Pakistani left arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman in cricket, who represented the Pakistan national cricket team in Test cricket and One Day International matches.
Akram is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the history of cricket. He holds the world record for most wickets in List A cricket with 881 and is second only to Sri Lankan off-spin bowler, Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of One Day International wickets with 502. He is considered to be one of the founders and perhaps the finest exponent of reverse swing bowling.[1][2][3] The revolutionary nature of reverse swing initially resulted in accusations of ball tampering by cricket critics, although the skill of the reverse swing delivery has now been accepted as a legitimate ability in cricket. Akram's later career was also tarnished with accusations of match fixing by critics, although these remain unproven.
On 30 September 2009, Akram was one of five new members inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.[4]
